Federation announces return to Bethpage Black in 2012
The New York State Federation of Secondary School Athletic Associations
announced on June 17, 2011 the return of the Federation Tournament to
Bethpage State Park in the 2012. The Black Course will play host to the
tournament for the third year in a row and will be held on June 9-10, 2012.
The low six scores from the NYSPHSAA Boys Golf Championship on June 2-4 at the
Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Cornell University will be eligible to
compete.

Chaddock and Cuba-Rushford capture Allegany County crowns
On Monday, May 9 at Wellsville Country Club, Zach Chaddock (Fillmore) shot a
three-over-par round of 73 to capture medalist honors at the Allegany County
qualifier. He finished one shot better than Corey Haas (Cuba-Rushford),
who will be making his fifth appearance in the Section V championships.
Haas' teammates Caleb Edwards and Dylan Lewis finished in 3rd and 4th place
respectively after rounds of 75 and 78 and will be joined by Will Simons to
compete for the Class C team title. Christian Pickert will also represent
Cuba-Rushford as an individual.
As make-up matches are completed, more information about the Allegany County
qualifiers will be made available.
Gananda, Lyons qualify for Sectionals, Mills wins Wayne
qualifier
Thomas Mills (Gananda) led at golfers at Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club on Monday,
May 16, earning medalist honors with a round of 82. His teammates Andy
Stark, Billy Heumann, and Peter Valone will join him as Gananda will compete for
the Class B title on Saturday.
Brandon DeSain led Lyons to a second-place finish in the league, and finished in
a tie for 5th place at the qualifier with a round of 92. Devon Veeder, C.J.
Smith, and David Perry round out the Lyons line-up that will compete in Class C.
Stevie Thomson (Williamson) returns to the Section V tournament after his
second-place finish in the qualifier with a round of 84. Newcomers Dylan Aldrich
(Clyde-Savannah), Tucker Emmeret (Red Creek), and Sam Silco (Marion) round out
the qualifiers from Wayne County.
Curran wins Indepedents title, Aquinas advances to Class B
Championship
Tim Curran (Bishop Kearney) had a round of 85 at Brook-Lea Country Club
on Monday, May 16 to capture medalist honors at the Independents qualifier.
He will be joined at Sectionals by teammate Cam Boon, who defeated fellow King
Alex Triassi in a playoff after both turned in rounds of 90.
Aquinas defeated Bishop Kearney and Wellsville in team competition, with Ben
Conway finishing in second place individually with a round of 89. Aquinas
will compete in Class B in the Classification Event on Saturday.
